Born in Akpugo during the Nigerian Civil War, he entered a world where daily life required resilience and ingenuity. One evening during dinner, his father picked up a spoiled touch-light battery and began experimenting with it on the table. When Dr. Agu returned to Nigeria, he entered a career shaped by purpose. His ascent through leadership roles at the National Information Technology Development Agency demonstrated both his technical brilliance and his ability to shape national innovation strategy. As Chief Strategy Officer, Director of IT Infrastructure Solutions, Director of Zonal Coordination and Pioneer Director of Research and Development, he helped define the country’s digital transformation agenda.
He played a critical role in developing Nigeria’s national IT roadmap and coordinated digital inclusion programs that reached thousands across government, academia and industry. He also led Nigeria’s delegation to GITEX Technology Week, helping position the country’s startups and innovators on the global stage.
Alongside his policy achievements, Dr. Agu built an expansive portfolio of indigenous hardware platforms. From the Unity Board to the OBUNO Engine, UDENE DAQ Board, Ugomba and OdumIoT Boards and custom RFID and NFC systems, his work advanced education, digital manufacturing and smart city development across Africa.
