The Architect of High-Stakes Clarity: The Journey of Alice Ekonomou

The roar of a stadium and the quiet tension of a boardroom might seem worlds apart, but for Alice Ekonomou, they share a singular, unforgiving truth: most ideas do not fail because they are weak; they fail because they are not communicated clearly enough when it matters most.

Throughout a career spanning nearly two decades and three continents, Alice has operated at the intersection of high-pressure performance and commercial strategy. From managing the complex global rights of the FIBA Basketball World Cup to coaching founders for multi-million dollar investor pitches, her journey has been defined by a relentless pursuit of clarity. Today, as a Communication and Pitch Strategist and a TEDx Speaker Coach, Alice helps leaders strip away the noise of “sounding smart” to find the signal of true influence.

The Logic of Language

Alice’s journey toward becoming a master of communication began with a surprising departure from the creative arts: a degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Bath. This analytical bedrock provided her with a unique lens one that views communication not as an abstract “soft skill,” but as a structured system that can be optimized for results.

Driven by a desire to bridge the gap between technical data and human connection, she pursued an MA in Marketing at the University of Brighton. This combination of mathematical precision and strategic storytelling became her competitive advantage. Early in her career, Alice learned that whether you are dealing with a complex statistical model or a brand campaign, the objective is the same: to make the sophisticated simple.

“A lot of people assume the key is delivery: voice, presence, confidence. Those things matter, but they’re not the starting point. What actually determines whether someone is effective is how clear they are on their message: what they do, what makes them different, and why it matters.”

Pressure as a Proving Ground

Alice’s professional “proving ground” was the fast-paced, high-stakes world of international sports marketing. During nearly eight years with Infront Sports & Media, she ascended to the role of Head of Account Management at FIBA Marketing. Here, she directed teams across more than 20 international events, including the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

Managing global partners like Tissot and TCL required more than just organizational skill; it required the ability to navigate high-pressure negotiations and deliver impactful narratives across digital, broadcast, and experiential platforms. Whether she was overseeing commercial operations for the Badminton World Federation in Singapore or managing large-scale events in Dubai and Bahrain, Alice observed a recurring pattern. The athletes who succeeded weren’t just talented; they were the most prepared.

She realized that the business world often lacked this “performance mindset.” She saw capable professionals stalling in their careers not due to a lack of expertise, but because they couldn’t perform at their best when the spotlight was brightest. This realization sparked a shift in her own mission. She began to view communication as a performance discipline, where credibility is either won or lost in the “clutch” moments of a presentation or pitch.

“In business, I kept seeing a disconnect. Many capable professionals weren’t progressing, not because they lacked expertise, but because they weren’t visible in the moments that mattered… In the end, those high-stakes moments are where credibility is built or lost.”

Defining the Future of Influence

Now based in Lausanne, Switzerland, Alice has translated her years of “sideline” experience into a powerful consultancy for the next generation of leaders. As a Communication and Pitch Strategist, she works with founders and executives to sharpen their message for investor pitches and key decision moments.

Her methodology is a departure from traditional public speaking coaching. She moves beyond the superficial gestures and vocal variety to focus on “Commercial Thinking.” By grounding a leader’s narrative in clarity and structure, she finds that the elusive quality of “confidence” follows naturally.

Her impact extends to the prestigious TEDxLausanne stage, where she serves as a Speaker Coach for the 2025 Countdown edition. In this role, she helps speakers tackle the world’s most complex problem climate change by turning bold solutions into actionable narratives. For Alice, the legacy she is building is one where communication is recognized as the ultimate differentiator in an AI-driven world. When access to information is equal, the person who can make an idea clear, relevant, and easy to act on is the one who moves the world forward.

“Stop trying to sound smart, and start making sure people not only understand you, but trust you. Because the people who move things forward are not the ones with the most complex ideas; they’re the ones who can make those ideas clear, relevant, and easy to act on.”

Beyond the Pitch

Alice Ekonomou’s leadership philosophy is rooted in the belief that preparation is the only true antidote to pressure. Looking ahead, she aims to empower leaders to see their voice as their most scalable asset. Her advice to the next generation is simple yet profound: stop relying on talent and start relying on the discipline of your thinking.

As she continues to facilitate workshops and deliver keynotes across Europe and the Middle East, Alice remains a steadfast advocate for the “human” element of business. In a world of increasing automation, her work ensures that when the stakes are high and the pressure is on, the message is not just heard—it is felt and followed.
