Leading Clinical Research Forward: A People-First, Patient-Centered Approach to Innovation

Who is Liz Adeusi?

Liz Adeusi, MHA, PMP, is a seasoned Clinical Project Leader and clinical research professional known for driving complex global trials with precision, speed, and a patient-centered focus. With a foundation in hands-on CRA experience and advanced expertise in healthcare administration and project management, she brings a rare blend of operational insight and strategic leadership. At Boehringer Ingelheim, she has led high-performing teams to exceed recruitment goals and achieve flawless execution milestones, while also serving as a mentor, speaker, and advocate for innovation, inclusivity, and responsible use of technology in clinical research. She is currently a business development consultant at  CT-SCAN strengthening industry partnerships, connecting sponsors, research sites and clinical stakeholders with the Predictive Enrollment Engineering Platform.

In the high-stakes arena of global clinical trials, where breakthroughs and bottlenecks are often separated by months and millions of dollars, Liz Adeusi, MHA, PMP, leads with a guiding principle:

“Science drives clinical research, but it’s leadership, alignment, and our ability to overcome challenges like patient recruitment that determine whether we truly change lives.”

For Liz, a clinical trial is never just a collection of data points or a series of regulatory hurdles. It is a complex, patient-centered ecosystem that demands steady leadership and strategic vision. As a Clinical Project Leader, she has built a reputation for transforming operational friction into seamless execution, ensuring life-saving therapies move from the laboratory to patients with both speed and integrity.

Cultivating a Comprehensive Perspective

Liz’s journey to senior clinical operations began not in the boardroom, but in the field. Her early career as a Clinical Research Associate (CRA) provided a “boots-on-the-ground” perspective that remains central to her leadership today. By mastering site-level operations, compliance, and monitoring, she developed a deep understanding of the daily realities faced by investigators and study teams.

Driven by intellectual curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning, Liz pursued a Master of Health Administration (MHA) and earned her Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. These credentials are not simply additions to her resume; they are tools that allow her to approach clinical research through a dual lens of healthcare delivery and disciplined project execution. This combination ensures every trial she leads balances patient-centered care with rigorous operational precision.

Leading Through Complexity at Scale

At Boehringer Ingelheim, Liz demonstrated her ability to deliver results in complex, high-pressure environments. Partnering closely with Clinical Trial Managers and cross-functional stakeholders, she guided high-performing teams, exceeding performance benchmarks, achieving over 150% of recruitment targets in challenging trials, and maintaining 100% on-time database lock milestones. This success reflects not just operational skill, but her ability to align people, anticipate challenges, and drive results globally.

Liz is currently a Business Development Consultant at CT-SCAN where she continues to use her clinical operations skills to drive business development and improve study enrollment using the DYNO AI tool for predictive enrollment engineering.

Known for clarity, composure, and decisive problem-solving, Liz consistently translates complexity into actionable outcomes. Her leadership signature is defined by aligning people, processes, and priorities to overcome the systemic and human challenges that can derail even the most sophisticated studies.

Legacy of Influence and Mentorship

For Liz, professional success is inseparable from mentorship. Through her coaching with Excellerate Clinical Research Training, her leadership within PMI Atlanta, and her role as a forum speaker in clinical research, she champions a people-first approach—developing talent, fostering dialogue, and strengthening growth across the industry.

In her role as Vice President of Public Relations (VPPR) at PMI Atlanta Toastmasters, Liz applied project management discipline and strategic communication to drive engagement, enhance visibility, and strengthen stakeholder alignment, extending her influence beyond clinical operations.

A frequent speaker and active industry voice, she continues to address pressing issues, from integrating AI into clinical trials to tackling persistent barriers in patient recruitment and access. “We must embrace AI and digital advancements to improve efficiency while ensuring these innovations are implemented responsibly and without compromising patient safety,” she emphasizes.

Leading with Purpose

Today, Liz operates at the intersection of innovation and execution. Her vision for clinical research centers on inclusivity, adaptability, and patient-focused trial design, advocating for programs that improve access and reflect the populations they serve.

As she continues to lead global teams and shape strategic decisions, her focus remains on lasting impact, both in the therapies delivered and the professionals she empowers.

Editorial Note

Liz Adeusi exemplifies the modern clinical leader: strategic, adaptable, and committed to developing others. Her journey underscores a simple truth: progress in clinical research depends not only on innovation but on leaders who can align people, navigate complexity, and deliver meaningful outcomes. She encourages Clinical Research Associates to actively pursue growth pathways, take ownership of their careers, and recognize that true leadership is cultivated through both experience and intentional action.
