Who is Kim Allen?
Kim Allen spent twenty-three years inside dentistry, first as a dental nurse and later leading sales teams for an oral hygiene supplier, before she built Inside Out Holistic Wellness, a practice where the guiding rule is simple: measure, don’t guess. She didn’t set out to disrupt healthcare. She set out to fix her dry skin. What she found instead was a second career built on the belief that people deserve real evidence about their own bodies, not assumptions dressed up as advice.
The results come back on a Tuesday. A number on a screen, flat and unremarkable, next to numbers from six months ago that told a different story. Nothing hurts. Nothing looks wrong on the outside. But the data says otherwise, and somebody in a small clinic somewhere has to decide what to do with a piece of information nobody asked for.
Most people would let it go. The label said the supplement worked. The multivitamin promised results. Why question something that feels fine?
But what if the truth about your body doesn’t wait for symptoms? What if the first sign of trouble isn’t a headache or a lump, but a quiet, stubborn number that refuses to improve no matter what you throw at it? Someone has to be paying close enough attention to notice. Someone has to trust the data more than the plan.
From Dentistry to Holistic Wellness
Kim began her career in dentistry, initially working as a dental nurse before moving into sales and leadership within the dental profession. Her extensive experience gave her a strong understanding of preventative care, professional trust and the importance of helping people make informed decisions about their wellbeing.
“We’re highly skilled at supporting the treatment of disease, but when it comes to nutrition, oxidative stress, and overall health, we’re often relying on assumptions rather than data,” Kim says.

The shift didn’t arrive as a grand decision. It arrived as a skincare device. Kim bought a LumiSpa to deal with her own dry skin, with no intention of starting a business. But the results were measurable, and that changed everything. She began studying the science behind the product, and eventually left dentistry entirely to build Inside Out Holistic Wellness full time.
What looks, from the outside, like an unlikely career change reads differently up close. It’s the same instinct that carried her through her years in dentistry: pay attention to what the evidence actually shows, not what you hope it shows.
Prevention Before the Problem Has a Name
Kim’s current work centers on a piece of technology called Prysm iO, a non-invasive optical scanner that reads skin carotenoid levels in fifteen seconds, offering a snapshot of a person’s antioxidant status. No blood draw. No needles. Just a number that either moves or doesn’t.
“Health should be proactive, personalised and measurable,” Kim says.
It’s a short sentence, but it’s the entire architecture of her practice. Where much of the wellness industry sells promises, she sells a starting point and a way to track whether anything is actually changing.

That philosophy was tested in the most consequential way possible. One of Kim’s clients began a personalised nutrition programme with a low wellness score, expecting steady improvement. Instead, his score kept declining, despite following every recommendation.
A less rigorous practitioner might have simply swapped supplements. Kim didn’t.
“Something wasn’t adding up, so I advised him to make an appointment with his GP for further investigation,” she says.

That referral led to a diagnosis of haemochromatosis, a genetic condition that causes the body to absorb excess iron, which can silently damage the liver, heart, and pancreas if left untreated.
Kim is careful about what she claims and what she doesn’t. The scan never diagnosed anything. What it did was flag that his body wasn’t responding the way the data predicted, and that gap was enough to send him toward the medical attention that mattered. It’s a distinction she returns to often: her role sits alongside doctors, never in place of them.
She sees this as the direction the wider industry is heading.
“We already monitor our blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose, so wellness technology is becoming another valuable tool that helps people understand what’s happening inside their bodies before symptoms appear,” she says.
Prevention, in her view, isn’t a trend. It’s overdue.
The Allen Playbook: 5 Lessons
Data Over Assumptions: Never let a label or a feeling replace an actual measurement of what’s happening in your body.
Trust the Number, Not the Plan: If a program isn’t working the way the evidence predicts, question the program before you question the person.
Work Beside Healthcare, Not Instead of It: The goal isn’t to diagnose or replace doctors, it’s to notice what deserves their attention.
Start With Yourself: Kim’s entire practice began with her own dry skin. Personal proof is often the most convincing evidence you’ll ever find.
Education Builds Ownership: People engage differently with their health the moment they can see it measured in front of them.
When the Body Tells the Truth
That number on the screen from the opening scene, the one that refused to improve no matter what was tried, is exactly the kind of signal Kim has built her career around noticing. Most people would have changed the supplement and moved on. She changed the question instead, and a man got a diagnosis he didn’t know he needed.

Years spent inside dentistry taught Kim Allen to look past what a patient says they feel. What she built afterward taught her to trust what the data quietly insists on saying instead.
Sometimes the most important thing a person can tell you is that something isn’t adding up.
